  1.  For the Illinois State Wild Bunch Match this last July, we gave Buckles to the Overall State Champions (Male and Lady) and a Buckle for each Category State Champion.  The Category State winners also received Conchos.  There were three Plaques for top three in each category.

The Buckles seemed to be well received.

  2. We are making plans to have a FINE match, indeed.

Several side matches, including Doughboy and Teddy Roosevelt stages on Friday will start the festivities.

Ten stages, five on Saturday and five on Sunday will highlight Wild Bunch Action Shooting.

More information is outlined on the website.

Yes, Sandoval will be the SPOT for Wild Bunch Action Shooting that weekend.

  3. I have never seen a Chrono at a Cowboy action Match either.

The Chrono has been used at most State and Above Wild Bunch Action Shooting Matches that I have attended.

Procedures are outlined in the handbook.

Pays to have a Chronograph to check your loads before attending a Big Match!

  4. How do you think the Colt Competition 1911, in .45acp would be for Modern?  The front sight would have to be changed from the fiber optic that it comes with, but the Colt looks like a possibility .  Already has nice grips, with the thumb recess, no palm swell, etc.  It is supposed to have a "match " barrel.

  5. I tried two powders with 300 gr coated bullets, Federal large rifle primers, and new Starline brass.

Trailboss 14 gr gave a velocity of 1190 fps.  2400 19 gr. gave 1170 fps.  The latter seemed to have a more abrupt "impulse."

What sights are preferred for TR?  I was using a tang mounted sight and an aperture front sight.  I wonder if it would be more difficult to acquire a target with this set up.  I could always put the factory sights back on.
