Wilson 1911s are too heavy for any wb category. A buddy weighed his for me @ 43.9 with a mag. My rock island (yes a know it has hogue laser grips, it's not a WB gun) it weighs 42.29 with a mag. So all I'm I'm asking is just add 2 ounces to the 1911 for both categories to alleviate the chance of someone unknowingly using an illegal gun. We're allowing carbon fiber magazine tubes on 38cal 60pf rifles and now there's an article in the chronicle about allowing semi automatic rifles in WB soo what's 2 ounces on a 1911?

Can we just raise the weight limitation on these pistols? If a factory built 1911 is "too heavy" that seems kind of problematic... I'm sure I'm not the only person who never would have guessed i was very very nearly over the weight limit. + 2 ounces for both traditional and modern looks like it would cover all factory built 1911s. My rock island is too heavy for even modern. How can that be? How many people are running tisas, rock islands, norincos (also overweight for modern) and others and don't even know it? I'd bet a ruger sr1911 is way over weight.

Overview of 1911 Traditional models
Boomstick Bruce replied to Deacon KC's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
Holy crap! I ordered a postal scale from Amazon and weighted it... I never would have guessed it weighed this much!! I just ordered an aluminum mainspring housing from hogue. It's not overweight but so close I don't want to take a chance someone's scale is off in case it ever does get weighed. -
WB Legal 1911 Grip Safety for GI Style Hammer Spur?
Boomstick Bruce replied to July Smith's topic in Wild Bunch Rules Forum
Yes it's chrome. I wish it was only nickel so it wouldn't look like the bumper from a 58 Buick but it was a gift, not a lot of people buy me guns for gifts and I love it! -

I certain that's a misprint, there is no way it weighs that much. that would mean it weighs more than a hi point 45 (35oz) and only slightly less than my .50 caliber L5 desert eagle (48oz)... -
WB Legal 1911 Grip Safety for GI Style Hammer Spur?
Boomstick Bruce replied to July Smith's topic in Wild Bunch Rules Forum
My problem is the edge of the safety below where the hammer would be when cocked, (See pic) digs into my hand drawing blood (other pic is of the scab right now). this happened at the WV state shoot weekend before last and I'm certain it was causing me to flinch every time i shot since it literally hurt to shoot. I found one on ebay that was more rounded so i replaced the factory one with that since i cant file or grind on the original since its hrome plated and will cuase i bigger issue later down the road when it starts to peel. Hopefully this elevates the issue... -
Overview of 1911 Traditional models

I run a chrome iver johnson 1911a1 for traditional with a fitted wilson barrel https://iverjohnsonarms.com/store/p172/1911A1_CHR45WP.html I love this 1911! My only complaint is the original barrel was chrome plated and just like every other chrome lined/plated barrel, it had horrible accuracy so i had wilson fit a barrel to it and do an action job but since they couldn't replace the hammer, trigger or grip safety, they didn't do anything to the action saying "its nearly perfect the way it is". I put a 20lb mainspring in it and really don't know why...lol... For the money, its an amazingly great 1911! I have 2 other 1911s (rock island and Auto ordnance thompson). I also have previously owned 2 kimbers and this Iver is superior to all of them in every way. -
I shoot at Cass in wv only. We shoot once a month starting in April on the 3rd Sunday ending in October. I shoot traditional. We host the wv state wb championship and I've won traditional the last 2 years we've hosted it. However, with the mouse fart 38s now infiltrating traditional class, this is likely my last year shooting wb... I got into wb because with the heavy hitting 45s, shooter ability was more important than who can run the lever the fastest, unlike cas where 60pf 38 powder puff loads that the timers cant even hear dominate...

I'm going to see if my club will let me shoot this in a monthly match.... I'm sure it will make pf...

I used a pipe cutter, just take your time. I also ordered a .175 bead and tap and drill bit set.

I fill my stock bolt holes with flattened 45 colt bullets. My main shotgun is a 3" solid rib cut at 20" with jeweled 2 3/4 bolt and flagged lifter I got on eBay for like 30 bucks! The sucker is heavy and has very controllable recoil with the Estate 1oz factory loads I buy. How much are those weighted followers and where do I buy 2?

3 so far for cutting it, 0 against it. I'm cutting it tonight!

So I picked up a back up model 12 for a song at the lgs a few months back. It was covered in surface rust but the action was very smooth for a gun made in 55 and probably only stored in a closet for the last 70 years or so (the barrel inside looks like a mirror). Anyway, at the wv wb state match this past weekend, my main shotgun decided stage 6 was the time for it to go on strike and quit working. So I grabbed "ole crusty" and went to work. Ole crusty isn't modified in the least bit save for a nice brown protective layer of "patina" but did get me through the rest of the match and won me another state traditional championship. Ole crusty has a modified choke 36 inch barrel. So the question is this, should I chop it off to 20" like my main gun or just leave it all alone in it's old crusty glory?

So, to stay competitive against 38 mousefarts, I'd need a 24" barrel on my 45colt 92, 141gn .454 round balls in 45colt cases loaded to 450fps (that the timer can't hear) then write a whole match with "rifle MUST be last"? Challenge accepted

WBAS given "equal billing" with CAS
Boomstick Bruce replied to Abe E.S. Corpus's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
with 90 grain 38s at a pf of 60, not anymore... now its just like CB, whoever moves the lever the fastest wins... i wonder how long until 22's are allowed? maybe even airsoft... heck, maybe just whoever can yell "pow! pow! i got you!" the fastest will be in the future... I got into WBAS because with the allowed guns and calibers, skill had more factor in being competitive than whoever can buy the most expensive guns and load the softest ammo does like in CAS, but alas, thats all been ruined so I'm quittting WBAS... it was fun for the short time i was involved... -
whats a "black pin"?
-
Can we just make traditional all 40 or larger? leave the mouse farts and race guns in the modern category... Or start allowing the 1917 browning...
-
☝️This!!!☝️ I'm probably quitting since now i'll have to go buy a 38 rifle with a carbon fiber mag, short stroke kit and start loading mouse fart 38's which also will require me to purchase new brass, primers and dies just to stay competitive.

One more question on 1911 mods
Boomstick Bruce replied to Boomstick Bruce's topic in Wild Bunch Rules Forum
Wv state wb champioship starts tomorrow and it was brought up because I shoot traditional and my 1911 is modified like the one in the frank norfleets pic, not as much but close. Thanks for the clarification. -

Is this mod ok for traditional? -
I loaded 5.5 and it felt louder and snappier than my old trail boss load so maybe it's just me? I ordered a new scale too. My current one is a 5 year old Amazon special so it may be out of calibration. 5.5 filled the case right close to the bottom of the bullet

I finally picked up some unique powder and loaded up a few and only fired 3 because they seemed hot compared to my old tb load. I used the data off the can. What's a safe light load for unique in 45acp that still gives me the power factor required? I run a 200gn rnfp.
