  1. There were some posts/threads accidentally removed when we had a large influx of spammers. If you know a rough timeframe of when the post was made and what it was about, I can see if it was affected.

  2. Once again, this match did not disappoint. Kudos to the OK Rough Riders on another top-quality match!

Something that continues to set matches apart in my opinion is the inclusion of different and plentiful side matches, and there were many at this match.

Excellent food, quality match design, good door prizes, and numerous side matches compel me to return to this match as often as I can.

    Thanks again!

You're going to need to post an application. This "buy a ticket" thing is odd.

No categories, no information, no nothing.

If you follow the "Buy Tickets" link and select the items you want (main match, side matches, meals, camping), the next page is where you fill out all the relevant details for your registration. This is similar to EoT registration.

Disclaimer: I'm not involved with the planning of this match, but I did check out the registration process, and I like it.

  4. It was a great match, and I'm happy to announce there was a scoring correction made that put Gillyboy up front by 3+ seconds. Gilly and I have a solid friendly rivalry, and I'm thrilled to announce the correction. I only wish he could have received the honors at the awards ceremony yesterday.

To be clear, Gillyboy is the 2023 AZ modern/state/overall champion. Congrats, Gillyboy!

  5. Hmm, I think this is actually an artifact of the dark theme. OP might have changed the text color... I'll see if I can figure it out. In the meantime, here's what the text says:

Handcrafted by Murphy's Custom Leather. Used very little and is like new.

The belt measures 40" from the end of the buckle to the middle hole.

    $425 shipped.

  6. The guidelines for chrono testing are on page 23 of the RO/MD handbook.

Edit: Since there is mixed information in this thread, here is an excerpt directly from the MD/RO handbook (but, I don't think anyone should "weight" your bullet after it's pulled 😬) :

"One round will have the bullet pulled and weighted. Then, the remaining
four rounds will be fired over the chronograph. The average velocity of the
three fastest recorded rounds will be used to calculate power factor."

  7. Assuming the shooter never moved with or discarded the pistol, no call. Shooter didn't use overloaded ammo (that we can be sure of).

The TO should have noticed if one of the first three mags was overloaded. If they didn't, then we should give the benefit to the shooter and assume it was the final mag.

I find no other forum on the Internet (including the Cowboy side of SASS Wire) that is so concerned that the author might fix up wording or add pictures to his post.  Sad.

I apologize if our forum makes you sadder than any other on the Internet. Make no mistake, it's not that we care that you edit your post, it's that we're volunteers and we can only fix things like this if they get reported. Thank you for your professional report. Much obliged.

  9. Often, I'll just lube the rails between matches. If it stays wet, it seems to run fine.

About every 2-3 matches or so, I'll do the standard field strip to remove all the fouling. About twice a year or before a big match, I'll remove the firing pin and extractor (series 80). I've never removed the trigger assembly, and I've only removed the mainspring housing once to change the mainspring 😬

I know this is poor hygiene, but my stainless R1 keeps chugging along after ~4 years and an estimated 20k rounds. Still, don't be like me.

For a new pistol, I think you'll want to keep it well lubed through the break-in period to prevent excessive wear, but I'm about as far from a qualified gunsmith as you can get.

  10. Welcome! You're going to like it here.

It's tough to beat the look and authenticity of a campaign hat, but I like a wide brim because it's often sunny and hot in Southern Arizona. This is a pretty cheap hat that works well for most SASS shooting, but I do have to push it up or remove it when shooting long range or BAMM from the bench. I accidentally won a shooting costume contest as a "vigilante" with the pictured getup, and that was a nice surprise.

Pictured (L to R): Artemus Von Schutze (MO 2021 Traditional State Champ and fine example of a Bavarian costume), me in the award-winning hat (ha!), and Able N Willin with a nice example of a cavalry-ish hat.
