Whitey James Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Does anyone use an 1887? Before I got my 97 and model 12, I was shooting my new Cimarron 1887 lever shotgun. I actually did pretty well with it and considered buying a second one for WB once mine gets to the front of the line for the "drop two" mod (no longer able to use the magazine). I was just curious as to if anyone else shoots these cool guns as they are much cheaper than what 97's are going for. Quote
Abe E.S. Corpus Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 A fellow on my posse at the Florida state match (Wild Bunch side match) used an 1887. The downside is that it only holds four rounds (as I recall) in the magazine, forcing an on the clock reload on stages with more than four shotgun targets. Quote
Whitey James Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 Mine holds 5 in the mag. I've seen videos of people swapping out mag springs to fit 6. Quote
Frederick Jackson Turner Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 You can definitely mod them to take six standard 2 /34 ss shells. Cheers, FJT Quote
Sedalia Dave Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I shoot one when I'm somewhere where WB is offered. Because I shoot one in CAS, I find it easier to use as muscle memory works in my favor. Currently using an unmodified NORINCO 87 that easily loads 6. The new CImarrons can easily be modified to hold 6. 1 Quote
