  1. Hi Back 40: Happy to help get this resolved! I'll send you a PM to verify your mailing address. I just checked the last 3 printed (mailed) issues of the Chronicle and you are on the mailing list. We are mailing them to you. In terms of your digital delivery of The Cowboy Chronicle via the Member Bulletin, the history within the program shows us all emails delivered - and even the time when you open those emails. USPS service has always been lackluster at best, but we all know its really hit a new low over the last couple of years. Hopefully we can get your printed versions figured out for you. Misty
  2. Hi everyone! So... at the end of the day, I'm just a shooter... a green one at WBAS who is excited- and nervous as he**- at the impending experience that will be my very first "official" WBAS match- END of TRAIL. While I've tinkered some in the past, a certain long-time issue in my right arm (corrected now thanks to a great orthopedic surgeon!)- and nearing a year since I had (gasp) some heart trouble... have all meant that I've not fully committed to WBAS- and now with a fully healed right arm, and a "go for it" directive from my cardiologist - I'm excited to say that 2025 is my year! Yep, why not just trial by fire and shoot the World Championship for the first time, right?! Oooof. Leather- check. My very own WBAS guns - check. (Santa brought me my very own 1911 AND a Model 12! Yay, Santa!) Excitement - check. Nerves - off the chart. Now, I'm leveraging the experience (hopefully) of all you seasoned WBAS shooters... aside from my main goal of focusing on safety and competency in my handling of the 1911, what other advice would you give? What is that, "man I wish I'd have figured that out sooner" thing in your shooting experience? Due to the *wonderful* Indiana weather this time of year, my main goal is dry "firing", working on transitions, mag changes, safe handling, etc. in the warmth of my basement. With, of course, the goal of at least a weekly live fire run down at the range. Do any of you have any training exercises/scenarios you would recommend? I -cannot- thank you enough in advance, Misty
  3. Good morning everyone! The 2025 Version of the WBAS Shooters Handbook is now posted on the SASS Website. In collaboration with the WB ROC, we have made great strides in this version of the handbook. We realize there is still a significant amount of redundancy within the document, and will begin working on a restructuring in the future to eliminate any redundant information. Shooters Handbook Please also find attached the 2025 WBAS TG Agenda Discussion items. (I've also copied the content below in case folks have trouble downloading the pdf!) I look forward to working together to continue to grow the sport of WBAS in 2025! Misty Moonshine SASS - WBAS Territorial Governors - Agenda Items 2025 Below are the annual agenda items for TG discussion. Please utilize these discussion items for the organization of TG meetings throughout the year. Submit your meeting minutes appropriately to ensure all viewpoints are registered with SASS. TGs: Utilize these discussion items to engage your clubs and SASS members on important topics, readying your ability to vote appropriately when warranted. Clarifications 1. Target distance, size, and round counts for WBAS WBAS is not and should not be presented as CAS with a 1911. Target distance and size remains at the Match Directors discretion, with recommendations in the SHB. A minimum recommended round count average of 28 rounds per stage has been added to the 2025 WBAS SHB. Round count considerations should be fluid with the economy and environment, but not at the cost of the experience of the competitor. 2. Vertical staging of firearms Vertical staging is not restricted by SASS. A clarifying edit has been made to the 2025 WBAS SHB to clear up the staging verbiage that states "laid flat". 3. Round left on the carrier This penalty in the 2024 WBAS SHB was a carry over due tot he allowance of "CAS Legal" firearms. Further evaluation of the penalty/rule was conducted and the penalty has now been removed in WBAS, mirroring the parameters pre-2024. Discussion Items *Note: Not all items for discussion are voting items. Some items are presented for discussion on business practices and sanctioning fulfillment to better identify the wishes of our competitors. 1. Power Factor Lengthy discussions about (re)establishing a Power Factor for the rifle in WBAS have been held. Many opinions exist for/against, with varying viewpoints and considerations. Examine the WHY for proponents of establishing a minimum PF in WBAS & evaluate. 2. Shooting Categories & growth Discussion of the addition of a Classic category - i.e.; Classic Modern & Classic Traditional - with PF minimums as well as other criteria to pay homage to "Classic WBAS" for those enthusiasts within the organization. Discussion on examining the breakout age for the Senior category. It currently differs from WBAS' sister sport of CAS at 65 instead of 60. Do we consider reducing the Senior category to 60, but with the understanding that any future age breakouts in WBAS occur at the 10 year mark instead of the 5 year mark? 3. Allowing Shotgun makeups Discuss adjusting the rules in WBAS to allow shotgun makeups - at the Match Directors discretion. 4. Awards and recognition SASS is open to feedback on the current awards provided for sanctioned matches. Thoughts on moving away from SASS providing conchos for category winners and moving to providing Overall Man/Lady - leaving the category awards to the Match/Event director? WBAS TG Agenda - 2025.pdf
  4. Hi Doc: We are working on an updated document that will include Range Operations and Match Directors guide. Separately, a completely re-vamped RO Course is also in the works. We are working with instructors and WBAS leadership- as well as seasoned shooters to put these together. We had hoped to have them before EOT, but it is taking longer to do than initially anticipated. We will have these great new resources out as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience, Misty
  5. Hi Leo: We've published a new version today that defines the Senior category as indicated. Seniors 65 and up. Look for the Feb 1, 2024 Version 17.3. Thanks! Misty
  6. Once we can get a new WB ROC in place, this sort of clarification will fall under their purview. Thanks! Misty
  7. Hi Doc Holloman: The latest version of the WBAS SHB, Version 17.3 was posted today. In it, we've added an exclusion for the Doughboy category to the "no slings allowed" rule. Slings are allowed for the Doughboy category. Many thanks, Misty Moonshine
  8. Good morning WBAS enthusiasts! We've been working on some clarifications and a few minor updates to the 2024 WBAS Shooters Handbook. I've attached the updated version here and will also be updating the version online in a few minutes. Please be on the lookout for the Feb. 1 Version 17.3 as the latest Version. In this version, we have clearly defined Juniors as 16 and under, Senior as 65 and up, the exception for the allowance of slings in the Doughboy category, updated the Pocket RO Card specific to WBAS, added the inclusion of Aluminum frame 1911's, and clarified the "Exception for the rifle..." to instead read "exception for long guns from the loading table.." on page 28. Thank you for your questions, your feedback, and your support through this transition. In gratitude,\ Misty Moonshine WBAS 2024 SHB Vers. 17.3 - 2.1.24.pdf
  9. I am still working with the AZ folks to update the schedule. There wont be an Ambassadors Meeting at EOT as the Ambassador program is now defunct - instead- There will be a WBAS TG Agenda and all WBAS business will be handled at the TG Meeting; by WBAS TGs.
  10. The new version of the WBAS SHB will be released within a week. The updated materials and rules will be what is taught. Misty
  11. I'm not necessarily rallying to implement a change... unless it is what our shooters want. If it seems that the conversation steers toward a preference of buckles over conchos - perhaps we can offer a choice for MD's? Of course, we will work to make sure the cost is feasible. Misty
  12. Tully: Our information was obtained by taking calls and getting emails from shooters all across the country here at HQ. We began to notice that with more and more frequency over the past year that the shooters were expressing their dislike of the Conchos and there have been comments that WBAS should get buckles like CAS. My making this post here asking the question was to accomplish the "poll" and get direct feedback from everyone to gauge the responses. Misty
  13. Good morning all: Years ago, at the beginning of the sanctioning of WBAS matches, SASS provided buckles for the overall winners. In short, the feedback we received at that time was that WBAS shooters didn't want buckles- most didn't wear buckles like CAS shooters, they wanted something different, etc. So, Coyote worked with the WB Committee and the Concho idea was born. Lately, it seems the tide has turned and WBAS shooters are looking for that overall buckle at the award ceremony at all sanctioned matches. So... what say you? Stick with conchos? Introduce a WBAS specific buckle design? Other ideas? I look forward to hearing from you to ensure SASS is fulfilling its sanctioning commitment at a level that shows our support and commitment to WBAS- and giving you what you want as an award for your successes on the range! Misty Moonshine

  15. We are all living in a new world this month as COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on our lives across the globe. All of us at SASS wish nothing but peace and health to our members and their families during this time, and our thoughts are with those surviving in the areas hardest hit. For the first time in 39 years, we regret to announce the cancellation of END of TRAIL 2020. An event like END of TRAIL takes months and months of planning, a significant financial commitment, and is reliant upon our attendees, sponsors, vendors, competitors, and guests to make it successful. While there is much the world still doesn’t know about the lifespan of COVID19, the fact remains that it could be months before we return to a level of normalcy that would allow for a successful END of TRAIL. The number of cancellations has skyrocketed over the past 2 weeks, and- even if the surge of the virus is behind us and the gathering bans are lifted in time for the event, we feel that the wake left behind from the devastating COVID-19 Pandemic will still be evident, and that we would not be in a position to present END of TRAIL in the tradition and fanfare that it, and our guests both deserve. If you have already registered for END of TRAIL, you have 3 options: 1) Request a full refund 2) Transfer your entry fee to EOT 2021 3) Donate: your entry fee will be transitioned into a direct donation to the SASS Museum & Cowboy Action Shooting Hall of Fame; a 501C-3. You will receive a donation receipt for your contribution for tax purposes. *Please contact us directly at sass@sassnet.com to inform us what your choice is. END of TRAIL Registration will remain open and all information will be transferred to EOT 2021. We look forward to seeing you at the 40th Anniversary of END of TRAIL, June 17-27, 2021. What a bash it will be! Misty Moonshine
