  1. I am wondering what the difference is in re-holstering your revolvers and moving. someone may have loaded a 6th round by mistake and have a non transfer bar revolver with a live round under the hammer. I think, loaded or not, if the gun is holstered and the trigger is covered, it's a pretty safe gun. Other than the Sig P320, I have not heard of a gun going off while holstered. I am not saying the rules should be changed, just pointing out the fact that in CAS it's okay, but not in WBAS?
  2. My first 1911 was a Ruger back when they first came out. I traded it off like an idiot.
  3. I had been only buying Wilson Combat mags prior to shooting WB. I have found that, for the money, it's hard to beat the Metalform mags. They are an OEM manufacturer of many brands.
  4. Sadly, I came in 10th out of 27. Was a hoot though.
  5. I found out (The hard way) that WBAS is NOT just CAS with a 1911. I shoot a stage where you had to move to shoot your shotgun last and re-holstered my pistol and all I heard was "waaaaaaaait" but, alas, it was too late. Being that I have shot way more CAS matches, I was used to doing that with my revolver(s). I still don't understand the logic but now at least I know.
  6. Weather and illnesses has kept me from shooting a WB match since November 16th last year. I am planning on breaking the drought tomorrow with the Oak Ridge Outlaws!
  7. I dunno. I have had two Ruger 1911's that needed no break in. Never once had a malfunction. My other 1911's all needed to be broken in to become reliable. I used some Flitz on the rails of my Springer and it smoothed up nicely. feels like butter now.
  8. I used to only buy Wilson Combat 1911 mags but have bought a few Metalform 7 rounders for WBAS. They have not given e any trouble yet and easy on the wallet.
  9. Thanks for the update. All I know is I love this sport and love WBAS so I will show up every chance I can and shoot whatever the match directors say. I do like that the distance is being talked about and recommended to be not as close as CAS.
  10. That's what I was thinking. I had a SR 1911 CMD when they first came out and let it get away like an idiot.
  11. I didn't think the Ruger was legal due to the beaver tail, skeleton trigger and extended safety.
  12. Sorry, Nashville, TN
  13. My daily carry is a 365xl. smallest 10 + round gun that I can shoot well
  14. Got a really nice 24” barrel for my model 12. I can’t get the old barrel out of the takedown coupler. I watched Larry Potterfield do it on YouTube with a special tool. Obviously I don’t want to invest too much money for a one time tool. Any suggestions for a gunsmith or a DYI method?
  15. My WB 1911’s are a Springfield Garrison and a Colt Series 70 i currently own 3 including my Ruger 10mm Night Watchman. I had owned a Springfield Mil-Spec, Ruger commander, and a Remington R1 that I sold or traded (regret letting the Ruger get away) I don’t carry a 1911 except sometimes in the winter i first fell in love with them when I was a kid going to the gun shops with my dad. There was always a glass case full of Colts and always wanted one but they were too expensive for my budget for many years. Finally, kids grown and moved I was able to get my first one (the Ruger when it first came out) the only pistol that comes close for me are the CZ 75’s for ergonomics and accuracy.
  16. my "Modern" 1911 has Novak style 3 dot sights.
  17. Mine holds 5 in the mag. I've seen videos of people swapping out mag springs to fit 6.
  18. Does anyone use an 1887? Before I got my 97 and model 12, I was shooting my new Cimarron 1887 lever shotgun. I actually did pretty well with it and considered buying a second one for WB once mine gets to the front of the line for the "drop two" mod (no longer able to use the magazine). I was just curious as to if anyone else shoots these cool guns as they are much cheaper than what 97's are going for.
  19. I installed the new Boyd's hardwood stock and it looks great! no fitting needed. I am going to keep the original one but I threw the ugly synthetic 3D printed junk in the trash. The foregrip was a breeze with the tool
  20. Tried shooting my Colt during the match yesterday and she still ain't quite broken in yet. Zero issues with the Springfield other that a squib load on the last mag of the second stage. The Colt needed help getting into battery a couple of times. Took it apart this morning, put some Flitz on the rails, worked it for a few minutes then cleaned it up. I had the same issue with the Springfield when it was new and now it runs like a top after doing the same and shooting it a bit. Funny thing is that I never had this issue with my Ruger 1911's. I mistakenly let my 45 go several years back but kept the 10mm. I don't know if it's because the Colt and Springfield are forged and the Rugers are cast?
  21. Top is my Springfield Garrison Bottom is my Series 70 Colt
  22. I use a lot of Missouri bullets. Good stuff. Just recently ordered some bullets from Slippery Bullets. They have a 200gr .45 that is a hybrid between a 45 ACP and 45 Colt that pretty nice. Loaded some for the last WB match I shot. fed great, no issues.
  23. Yes, just curious as to what everyone is shooting. Trying to spark some life into this forum.
  24. I have wanted a Colt 1911 since I was a kid (when Colts were the only 1911's, now everyone makes one). I have bought 2 Springfields, 1 Remington, and 2 Ruger 1911's (one of the Rugers is in 10mm) but the only Colt I own is a new version Anaconda so I decided that my collection is incomplete without the brand that started it all!
  25. Before I ever joined SASS I knew I wanted to shoot Wild Bunch so I bought a brand new series 70 Colt in case I wanted to shoot Traditional. I have yet to shoot it in a match and have been shooting my Springfield Garrison in Modern. Once I replace the short factory trigger with a long one I plan on shooting the Colt (hate short triggers on a 1911) Thought it might be fun to see what everyone is using.
