Mine holds 5 in the mag. I've seen videos of people swapping out mag springs to fit 6.

Does anyone use an 1887? Before I got my 97 and model 12, I was shooting my new Cimarron 1887 lever shotgun. I actually did pretty well with it and considered buying a second one for WB once mine gets to the front of the line for the "drop two" mod (no longer able to use the magazine). I was just curious as to if anyone else shoots these cool guns as they are much cheaper than what 97's are going for.

I installed the new Boyd's hardwood stock and it looks great! no fitting needed. I am going to keep the original one but I threw the ugly synthetic 3D printed junk in the trash. The foregrip was a breeze with the tool

Tried shooting my Colt during the match yesterday and she still ain't quite broken in yet. Zero issues with the Springfield other that a squib load on the last mag of the second stage. The Colt needed help getting into battery a couple of times. Took it apart this morning, put some Flitz on the rails, worked it for a few minutes then cleaned it up. I had the same issue with the Springfield when it was new and now it runs like a top after doing the same and shooting it a bit. Funny thing is that I never had this issue with my Ruger 1911's. I mistakenly let my 45 go several years back but kept the 10mm. I don't know if it's because the Colt and Springfield are forged and the Rugers are cast?

45ACP loads, what are you shooting?
Whitey James replied to Whitey James's topic in Reloading for Wild Bunch
I use a lot of Missouri bullets. Good stuff. Just recently ordered some bullets from Slippery Bullets. They have a 200gr .45 that is a hybrid between a 45 ACP and 45 Colt that pretty nice. Loaded some for the last WB match I shot. fed great, no issues. -
Yes, just curious as to what everyone is shooting. Trying to spark some life into this forum.

I have wanted a Colt 1911 since I was a kid (when Colts were the only 1911's, now everyone makes one). I have bought 2 Springfields, 1 Remington, and 2 Ruger 1911's (one of the Rugers is in 10mm) but the only Colt I own is a new version Anaconda so I decided that my collection is incomplete without the brand that started it all!

Before I ever joined SASS I knew I wanted to shoot Wild Bunch so I bought a brand new series 70 Colt in case I wanted to shoot Traditional. I have yet to shoot it in a match and have been shooting my Springfield Garrison in Modern. Once I replace the short factory trigger with a long one I plan on shooting the Colt (hate short triggers on a 1911) Thought it might be fun to see what everyone is using.

Just ordered the tool from Numrich Gun Parts Corporation

so the cap unscrews? is it clockwise or counter? lefty loosely?
-
there are small slots on either side at the top.
-
The previous owner glued it on both sides but the crack is still very visible. Not sure how well it will hold up. I have the original corn cob forend but not exactly sure how to replace it. can't really find much info on the interwebs for that.
-
I ordered the aftermarket follower/spring. I'll let you know how it goes. The buttstock has cracks on either side where it connects to the receiver. Anyone tried the Boyd's stocks? Mine is currently wearing a set of the synthetic 3D printed "wood" furniture and I really want real wood.
-
Really just the bluing on the receiver. No rust or pitting. I still am going to try to find an extra barrel to cut down so I can keep the original in stock form. I saw a Featherweight barrel on eBay. I assume those won't work?

Maybe there were only six of us shooting, but I'll take it! First time shooting the newly acquired 1897 Winchester with no issues. All in all, it's been a pretty good week with my first ever match win and clean shoot, 10 year anniversary with my wife, and the presidential election results.

Yeah, I saw the mag follower/spring kits on eBay last night and it was just shy of $40. Guess it would be a better idea to buy the 870 spring and start trimming.
-
I took my "new" '97 down and gave her a good cleaning and shot a few rounds to test function. I can only get 5 in the tube. The 6th one is about a quarter inch or so shy of going in. Other than snipping some of the spring, is buying a Wolff spring a better way to go?
-
Picked up the 97 and model 12 from my FFL today. The 97 looks to be rarely shot!. The Model 12 has a lot more wear but gives it character!
-
I got hit pretty good yesterday at a match, one stage over spotting and took some lead shot to my lower lip. Stung like a SOB. I wonder, does this mean I have "technically" been shot in the face?
-
Being still very new to SASS I don't have any real hardline stances. Is it fun to hear the steel ring? You bet! does it suck to miss? Of course. I don't really get a say in how the range is set up so I shoot what is before me. I have been shooting steel for about a decade on my private property. I only buy/use AR500 steel so there is no denting and the targets remain smooth and flat and I maintain at least 10 yards of distance because that was what I had read was the safe minimum. I have never had a single issue. Now that I have been shooting matches at a couple of clubs, I have gotten whacked a few times with lead shot and bullet fragments when I am spotting. Take that for what it's worth.
-
That's a good idea. I will look around. Even if it's another 30" I could cut down and preserve the original.

Just to be clear, I never suggested that WB needs to do this, I think I said "may be fun to..." because I, myself, am terrible one handed and even worse weak handed.
