  1. The 2021 Arizona State Wild Bunch Championship is coming up February 13 & 14 2021.

Held at Cowtown in north Phoenix.

I am sure Zona will have some interesting and challenging stages to shoot.

I always like shooting Zona's stages, but some have called him an "Evil Bastard"  ;D ;D ;D

    Applications can be found here:

Hope to see lots of you in February.

  2. Is 75 shotgun a typo?

    Also, is 100 rifle a typo?  :P

Seems like a lot for 10 stages, but maybe that's part of the mystery  8)

    See y'all then.

Last monthly match rifle was all 10 rounds except one stage was 9 rounds.

I'll make a WAG that there will be shotgun reloads.

Plus as Marshal Stone says, Zona likes to shoot a lot of ammo with few if any dumps.

  3. I was at the loading table where I could see the shooter but not the firearm due to a stage front wall.

First round sounded pretty normal, second round sounded different but not the phfffft you hear from a Cowboy squib, third round KABOOM. Anyone who has shot Cowboy for any length of time is familiar with the phffft from a rifle/revolver squib. This shotgun sound was nothing like that. I've been shooting shotguns for 55 years and I have never heard or seen a shotgun burst like this.

Had I been the shooter yesterday, I probably would have shot the third round also as I didn't not recognize it as a squib.

The takeaway for me is, if my shotgun round doesn't sound normal, declare malfunction and move on.

  4. This is NOT how you want your Model 12 barrel to look.

I believe it was the 3rd round. Suspected squib 2nd round.

    A very experienced, fast shooter.

Afterwards said noticed 2nd round didn't seem right but didn't react quick enough to stop.

Nobody hurt. Shotgun was first and shooter finished stage.

I shoot my Model 12's pretty quick and I don't think I would've been able to react either.

This is simply to show what can happen.

  5. Congratulations, JTS!  Sounds like you are hooked.  Wild Bunch and the 1911 are a hoot aren't they?  Compared to  Cowboy, both are good, WB offers more pistol shooting - Sliding instead of revolving.  Praise be to John Browning and pass the ammo!

We all really enjoyed you shooting with us. For your first WB match you did really well.

Once you get all the WB basics down you will be a contender.  ;)

Look forward to shooting WB again on the 22nd of this month.
