  1. Full cleaning ,it gets stripped and into the ultrasonic for 10 mins then into another ultrasonic tank full of weapons lube for the same time ,comes out clean as a whistle  .Otherwise a good spray down with Hornady one shot and then i use Lucas oil for everything. The red kind .
  2. I have to agree with Bogus on the severity of penalty for the SDQ .If it is heinous enough to be a potential safety of life issue then the shooter should be done, period ,regardless of how fantastic a shooter they are in all other respects and at all other times.

If it isn't ,then make it a no call.

To my mind , regardless of the shooting sport if you lose control of your firearm (170 loaded or not) or of your fire control awareness (trigger finger) ,then you should be done for that match .

On the subject at hand,TT is simple,it works and you don't have to explain it ad nauseam to everyone ALL THE TIME .This is a simple game with no cash purse. Lets just keep it safe and simple .

I don't see very many threads, posts or camp fire discussions clamoring to bring back the good old days of rank points in cowboy .

  3. Ed Brown Customs are having a sale on their 7 round magazines . The 2 packs are $29.99  These are the best magazines I have ever used ,totally reliable (until  you step on them a few times).

Anyhoo ,that is a pretty screaming deal in my opinion and I wanted to pass it on.

  4. G.J I couldn't agree more. The biggest issue I have is that committee has stated the scoring system algorithm has been flawed for the last two years (or longer) at the Nation and world championships yet we move forward with the same ridiculous system .
  5. We intend to keep stage points for major matches. (WR, EOT) Until the problems with DNF's and SDQ's are addressed successfully with TT we plan to keep the system.  As for the issues at EOT the problems occur with ANY scoring system when there is a SDQ or a DNF when you score within category (a small pool) the SDQ or DNF becomes a huge factor.  When you re-score with a large pool (total shooters for overall) the SDQ/DNF becomes a much smaller factor. That is just the way math works.  One thing being considered is IF Overall Winners are going to continue (SASS likes them) Instead of scoring within category and then re-scoring Overall we may just do like TT and RP currently score. Just score everyone together in Overall and then pick the category winners out of that list in order. That would make it impossible for a person to NOT win their category and place above others in their category overall. The downside is you loose the pure within category scoring. You can't have it both ways.

What is the big fear and issue about a SDQ/DNF being a big deal..?..A DNF is a non factor.  They did not finish...next move on . A SDQ is a big deal or at least it should be if it is to count for something. If you screw up badly enough in the eyes of the rule book to cause a SDQ then you don't deserve to place ,you do however get to finish the match .If it is a MDQ then sorry ,off you go.  if you think an infraction that causes a SDQ is no big deal then make it not big deal and down grade it.

Yes it is a shooting competition and you should be able to hit targets....quickly,for those that consider that speed is not important...well there are shooting sports that don't use timers .

  6. Well as one of the apparently "weak willed majority" I would just like to say that I don't care about trophies much one way or another . I do care that the system is fair, works correctly from the start and that it doesn't require manipulating after the fact to get a result. If the scoring algorithm is sound then the formula works. If it doesn't then we need a new one.

If speed combined with accuracy is an issue maybe we should do away with the timer altogether ,that sounds fun......

I may be weak willed but I will continue to stand by the majority .

  7. Total Time  X2

Or fix the stage points so that it actually works ,To have to admit that the scoring system used at the National and World championships for the last TWO YEARS is flawed and had to be reworked is ludicrous . Either fix it or get rid of it .

Personally I think this is the biggest barrier to participation.

  8. Mr. Nor fleet I can do basic math and then some. I disagree when you want to ease the impact of a safety infraction serious enough to earn a stage DQ. 5 seconds per target + 30 seconds does not equal a match DQ.

I'm fine with disagreeing but don't insult my intelligence by saying I cannot do basic math.

    Two Dot

    Completely agree here ,TT .

As to  the SDQ ,if its serious enough then it should be a game changer, if it is not, then down grade it to a minor safety. Personally I really don't like the three level system . Either its minor and used as a warning/wake up or its major and that's your match done ,take the Timer of shame or a counting stick and think about what you did .

  9. So in that case why bother with an overall if you are going to skew the scoring ? I  understand the method and the reasoning although I don't agree with it, but if you have a category with an order and then you hand out a Championship award with a different result you diminish the appearance of the awards.

Personally I believe that a SDQ should be of huge significance regardless, if there has been a safety rule violation severe enough to warrant a DQ then it should carry the penalty.

  10. I have one that runs flawlessly now,I had a problem in the beginning that was easily solved ,I load with  the same set up as for my 1911 ,just use a 200gr bullet instead of a 230. I love it,I think I cleaned it once in the last 2000 rnds other than a squirt with some One Shot.It worked very well with the 230s too just have a lot of 200 sitting around .
